Provide a brief description of your company and the products?

Scentsy began with a simple idea - a safe, wickless alternative to scented candles. Choose from three different sizes of deluxe warmers (depending on personal preference) and over 80 fragrances. We also produce hanging fresheners, room sprays and travel tins in the same 80 scents. All products are fire-fighter approved!
Scentsy strives to make a difference by giving back. Our new charitable cause warmer donates 100% of the net profits to Sunshine Kids. A portion of our College Campus collection sale goes to that college’s scholarship program. These are just two of the many honorable programs Scentsy promotes.

Provide a brief company history including how long in business and how many consultants in how many countries.

Scentsy was born in 2003 when the two founders Colette Gunnell and Kara Egan from Utah began selling decorative warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of traditional wick and flame. In 2004 Scentsy became a party plan company when the Thompson’s bought it and joined the Direct Selling Association. Today we are currently in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Canada. Our home office is in Meridian, Idaho.

What is the cost to start up? What comes in the startup kit?

The cost is $99 plus local tax and shipping. The kit includes:

Are there any additional expenses (startup, yearly renewal, website, etc)?

If you decide to keep your replicated website and e-newsletter the cost is $10 per month. There are no required additional expenses.

How much is the commission on personal sales and downline? How often are consultants paid?

You earn 20% commission on personal sales at first. After you sell your first $1000, you get bumped up to 25% commission. You will never lose rank or be bumped back down to 20%. Earn royalties up to 9% on your downline. Consultants are paid once a month.

What are some of the additional benefits/rewards consultants can earn?

In your first 60 days as a new consultant you can earn up to $200 in free product for achieving high sales and/or recruiting. There are incentive trips every year that the company pays for. Scentsy honors top sales, top sponsor, monthly mentor, scentsational trainer and monthly sales every month. In addition, there are annual awards. You can earn a 5% pay bonus in any given month that you sell $2,000. Discounted product can be purchased for consultants.

What is your favorite thing about your company?

Scentsy is so simple. When I do a presentation I don’t have to memorize hundreds of items in my catalog. We all love fragrances and nothing is funner that watching and listening to guests smell the testers over and over while telling stories that a certain scent took them back to. Scentsy is truly authentic and the safety factor can’t be beat.

What is your favorite product?

The warmers are my favorite products to use. Every room in my house has one with a different scent. Even my 4 year old son loves Sugar Cookie warming in his DIY cars themed warmer. When he puts his finger in the warmed wax I can rest assured that it will never get hot enough to burn him.
